Invisalign® treatment: What is it? How does it work?

Invisalign® is a modern practice treatment that utilizes clear, removable aligners to gradually
straighten teeth. These aligners are virtually invisible, making them a discreet alternative to
traditional metal braces. Invisalign® clear aligners have become extremely popular, However,
complex cases or severe malocclusions may require alternative orthodontic treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Invisalign treatment typically takes between 6-12 months, although this
can vary depending on the individual case. Your dentist will create a treatment plan
that is tailored to your specific needs and will be able to give you a more accurate
estimate of how long your treatment will take.

While you can technically eat and drink with your Invisalign aligners in,
it’s recommended that you remove them during meals and only drink water while wearing
them. This is because food and drink can get trapped between the aligners and your
teeth, which can lead to staining and other oral health issues. Additionally, chewing
with the aligners in can cause them to become damaged or dislodged.

In order for Invisalign treatment to be effective, you will need to wear
your aligners for at least 22 hours a day. This means that you should only remove them
for eating, drinking (except for water), brushing and flossing. If you don’t wear your
aligners as prescribed, your treatment may take longer than anticipated or may not
produce the desired results.

Invisalign is a clear aligner system that gradually straightens teeth
using custom-made, removable plastic trays. These aligners are virtually invisible and
are replaced every few weeks to shift teeth into the desired position.

Invisalign is suitable for both teens and adults. The aligners are
customized to fit your teeth, and your dentist will determine if Invisalign is right for
you based on your age, dental health, and goals.

It’s best to remove your Invisalign aligners before eating or drinking
anything except water. This helps prevent stains, food particles from getting trapped,
and damage to the aligners.

While Invisalign aligners may cause some initial discomfort, especially
after switching to a new set, the pain is generally mild and temporary. Most patients
experience only slight pressure as their teeth begin to move.

For the best results, Invisalign aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per
day. This includes wearing them while sleeping, and they should only be removed for
eating, drinking, and brushing your teeth.

Invisalign aligners are made of clear, transparent plastic, making them
almost invisible when worn. Most people won’t even notice you are wearing them, allowing
you to straighten your teeth discreetly.

Not wearing your aligners as prescribed can slow down your treatment
progress. It might cause delays or affect the final results, and you may need to wear
the aligners longer to achieve your desired outcome.

Cleaning Invisalign aligners is easy. Simply rinse them with lukewarm
water and brush them gently with a soft toothbrush. Avoid using toothpaste or hot water,
as they can damage the aligners.

Yes, Invisalign is often a great alternative for those who wish to switch
from traditional braces. Your dentist will evaluate your situation and recommend the
best course of treatment based on your dental needs.
