What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a permanent solution for missing teeth. They are titanium posts that are surgically anchored into the jawbone.

A dental implant is composed of three main parts:

  • Implant: Titanium tooth root surgically anchored into the jaw
  • Abutment: Screws into the implant and connects the implant to the dental crown
  • Crown: Affixed on top of the abutment that looks like your natural tooth

Treatment

We will perform a complete oral exam, analyzing your teeth, bite, and state of your oral health. If you require bone grafting, this will be completed before your dental implant procedure. If your jawbone needs to be strengthened with artificial bone material, bone grafting is essential as it provides the foundation for the implant.

After a healing period of 3 months, your dental implant will be placed in the jawbone. After this heals, the abutment and dental crown will be placed on top.
